I am Dave Nixon , I was in Blackford House from 1967-1971. When I started, the school was boys only, but admitted girls from The Hall School into the sixth form my last two years. I have some fond memories of Bruton, especially playing sports particularly hockey and cricket. Drinking Brian Couzen's home made spruce beer during the wide-ranging discussion evenings at his house. Defacing my hymn book with hundreds of calculus problems during morning prayers (unfortunately this turned out to be the highlight of my mathematical career). Launching and crashing the school glider on Farr field. Playing the song "Wipe Out" hundreds of times in the day room. The time the rocket project's test rocket blew up (this was just after the moon landings). After Bruton, I studied physics at Wadham College, Oxford and after graduation did a lot of software development. In 1980 I moved to the USA working for Bell Labs near Chicago and I'm currently involved in an internet marketing start-up company in Silicon Valley, USA.
